Resistance – Advanced Strength Training – Fail

I think it’s important to celebrate failures as well as successes. It’s obvious when we succeed that we likely did a lot of things right. We try very hard to duplicate this so we can continue to be successful. Sometimes it doesn’t always work that way and we have an off day. These are the times we have to embrace and learn from.

Today was an off day for me. I had intentions of doing a great workout, but only got half way through before I called it quits. This is a hard thing to do, but I had to listen to my body.

This workout was AFAP, As Fast As Possible. The goal was to repeat the below circuit 4 times.

This is a simple / tough workout. The kicker comes when you are trying to recover from the box jumps and you swing the jump rope into your forehead. Ouch!

I only got 2 circuits done in 17:30.

This is fine because I know tomorrow I will be ready and able for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

It is not what you do on a given day, but what you do regularly that counts.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a failure. Knowing your limitations is as important as knowing your strengths. Push yourself, but push yourself smart. You don’t want to let your ego push you to injury.
